Being a Real Estate Photographer offers flexibility, new shoot locations, and creative opportunities to further the real estate industry. Photographers are challenged to create high-quality content, through newly developed photography techniques, an ever-changing tech landscape, and a willingness to learn more.
Here are some of our favorite, tried and true gadgets that we use for every shoot.
Pistol Grip Tripod Head: With verticals and horizons being an integral part in real estate photography, it’s imperative to have a tripod that is reliable and quick to adjust angles. This Manfrotto pistol grip tripod head specifically is light and easy to maneuver.
Remote Flash Triggers: Mastering the art of lighting is a challenge in whatever field of photography you’re in, so having the tools to make that job a little easier is always welcomed. Remote flash triggers allow you to position extra light where it’s needed most, illuminating darker locations with a more mobile approach.
Wide Angle Lens: Creating quality real estate photography comes with experience and patience; capturing the potential, and essence of a property is made easier with a nice wide angle lens. With varying layouts, different sized rooms, and intricate details, capturing it all is essential with at least a 16mm lens for a full frame.
Drone: Aerial services are becoming less specialized and more of the norm; having a reliable drone like the DJI Inspire 1 is easy-to-learn, and convenient to fly. In addition, we are eager to receive our new Mavic Pro and report back on our experience; if true to reports, DJI will have successfully built an even more accessible, quality, drone.
Lightroom: Once all of the content is created, it’s still up to you and your team to deliver, crisp, beautiful photos; enhanced lighting, decreased shadows, and blemish-free is a given, and the same basic presets can be applied to most photos. Lightroom increases editing speed through it’s easy-to-use platform, and intuitive tool box.
Like anything, it takes time, effort, education, and experience to discover what works best for you and your niche. Creating beautiful, quality real estate photography is attainable with the right attitude, work ethic, and easy-to-learn gadgets.
